The short answer
RAKEZ (Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone) is the business licensing authority of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, about an hour's drive from Dubai. It licenses Free Zone companies (FZE and FZC), branches and non-free-zone companies, offers more than 3,000 activities, and runs business and industrial zones with offices, warehouses and land. Its Pro package includes up to 10 activities, up to 50 shareholders and the visa fees, and the residence visa lets you live anywhere in the UAE, including Dubai.

RAKEZ packages: Lite, Pro and Max
Most small companies set up on one of RAKEZ's coworking packages. The difference is how much is included:
| Package | Best for | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Lite | One owner, trading or e-commerce | 1 shareholder, 1 activity (general trading or e-commerce), up to 1 visa |
| Pro | Most small companies | Up to 10 activities, up to 50 shareholders, coworking desk, visa fees included (entry permit, status change, medical test, Emirates ID) |
| Max | Owners who want it fast and done for them | Everything in Pro, plus VIP visa processing and a corporate bank account |
Because Pro includes up to 10 activities and 50 shareholders, adding partners or activities usually doesn't change the price. That is where RAKEZ often beats Dubai Free Zones, which include 3 activities and charge for extras.
Company types at RAKEZ
- FZE (Free Zone Establishment): a Free Zone company with one shareholder.
- FZC (Free Zone Company): a Free Zone company with two or more shareholders.
- Branch: a branch of a company you already own, in the UAE or abroad.
- Non-free-zone company: RAKEZ can also license companies outside the Free Zone in Ras Al Khaimah, for businesses that need to trade locally.
- Freelancer permit: for individuals in eligible professions. See freelance visa.
RAKEZ activities
RAKEZ offers more than 3,000 activities. Each activity belongs to a licence type (commercial, industrial, services, professional, educational, media, e-commerce, general trading or freelance) and an activity group. RAKEZ publishes a searchable list on its website, with the activity code and a description for each one.
- Choose what you will invoice for. Banks check that your activities match your business.
- Think about the licence type. Some combinations need a different licence or an extra approval; we check yours before you apply.
- Regulated activities (for example food, health, education or financial services) can need approval from another authority.
Write your activities in our online application and we match each one to the official RAKEZ list.
RAKEZ zones and facilities
RAKEZ is not only coworking. It runs five zones, which makes it a strong choice for trading, logistics and manufacturing:
Business zones
- Al Nakheel Business Zone, aimed at startups, freelancers and small companies
- Al Hamra Business Zone
Industrial zones
- Al Ghail Industrial Zone
- Al Hamra Industrial Zone
- Al Hulaila Industrial Zone
Facilities
- Flexi desks and coworking
- Standard, executive and shell-and-core offices
- Warehouses and land for development
RAKEZ says its industrial zones have government-supplied power, gas and water around the clock, close to Ras Al Khaimah's ports.
RAKEZ visas
On RAKEZ visa packages, the visa fees (entry permit, status change, medical test and Emirates ID) are included in the package, so the number of visas is what moves the total. A RAKEZ residence visa is a UAE residence visa: you can live and work from Dubai or anywhere in the UAE.
- Already in the UAE? Your status is changed without leaving the country.
- Family: once you hold your visa, you can sponsor your spouse and children. See family visa.
- Faster processing: the Max package includes VIP visa processing.

Setting up a RAKEZ company from abroad
Most of our RAKEZ clients start the company before they move. This is how it works:
- Company first, from home. Application, documents and signatures are done online. Your licence is issued while you are still abroad.
- Entry permit. Once the company exists, it issues your entry permit so you can travel to the UAE on your new residence visa.
- One short trip for the visa. In the UAE you do the medical test and biometrics. We book both and tell you where to go.
- Emirates ID. Delivered to your address. You can now open your bank account and rent a home anywhere in the UAE.
If you don't need to live in the UAE, you can keep the company without a visa. Ask us whether a visa helps your bank account and tax residency first.
RAKEZ for trading, e-commerce and industry
RAKEZ is one of the few Free Zones that suits both a one-person online shop and a factory:
- Online sellers: the Lite package covers one owner with a general trading or e-commerce activity, the simplest start for selling online. See e-commerce licence.
- Traders: general trading, import and export activities, with customs duties in the Free Zone that RAKEZ says are low for almost all goods. See general trading licence.
- Logistics and manufacturing: warehouses in different sizes and land in the industrial zones, close to Ras Al Khaimah's ports.

What decides your RAKEZ cost
- The package: Lite, Pro or Max
- The number of visas in the package
- Your premises: coworking, an office or a warehouse
- Your activities and any outside approvals
We don't publish a price that may be wrong for you: after a free 30-minute call you get your exact total, line by line, in writing. Renewal costs about the same as the first year.

- One of the lowest-cost Free Zones in the UAE
- Up to 10 activities and 50 shareholders on Pro
- Visa fees bundled into the package
- Offices, warehouses and industrial land as you grow
- Live and work from Dubai
Good to know
- Your company address is in Ras Al Khaimah, not Dubai
- Lite allows only one owner and one trading or e-commerce activity

Who RAKEZ suits
A good fit: owners who want the lowest cost, companies with several partners or many activities, online sellers and traders, logistics and manufacturing companies, and anyone who needs a UAE residence visa but not a Dubai address.
